Lots of busywork=sick of inactivity

As much as I defend my town to others–I am thoroughly sick of it. Luckily I go back to school in 8 days, so I will be getting out soon.

Today I accomplished quite a few things, but it feels as though I haven’t done anything meaningful all day.

I edited a lot of my grandmother’s old photos. She had found them in her sister’s attic, and last time she was here I uploaded them all onto the computer. That took hours. The photos are all really cool though, I will post a couple of my favorite here:

That last one there is my Uncle Peter on the left and my Father on the right.

I love looking at these old pictures, especially the faded ones that look like they have been well loved. There are so many beautiful photos, that I think are so classy. My grandma, however, wants them restored. So, being the good grandchild I am, agreed to help her out.

When I agreed I didn’t know how many photographs there were.

I have spent hours and hours working on these photos now, and by the time I got done, I was pretty convinced that some of them looked worse than when I started out. Certainly a little of the charisma was edited out when the scratches and cuts were replaced.

I emailed these to my Grandma so we will see what she thinks.

I also recorded my mother’s parts for Joseph for her, and I am burning them to a cd. She needed help learning her parts so I thought I would make her a rehearsal aid. Hopefully it helps.

I also cleaned some, and uploaded a lot of photos from an old retreat.

I also uploaded, converted, and burned all of the book that I have recorded so far. I’m only about a third of the way through the book, but I’ve already filled up 3 cds. Yikes. This is turning into a much larger project than I expected. But now that I’ve started, I cannot possibly stop. That would just be giving up.

Yesterday A, S and I decided to make a movie. As I have been on a Harry Potter theme lately, it seemed silly to change (not to mention Harry is S’s major obsession) so we decided to make an HP fanfilm.

Both A and I have tested as Ravenclaw on “the only scientific test”.

First item: costuming.

A wore a black sweater and pants, with a Ravenclaw colored shirt and scarf.

I wore black leggings, grey leg warmers, a blue jean skirt, and a blue t-shirt over a white blouse. I also wore Alanna’s leftover scarf material as a neck-tie, and an amazingly hideous giant blue jean coat. We were fabulous.

Second item: wands. Well, some pencils, and quite a bit of duct tape later and voila! My BAMFKS.

Third item: Location, location, location.

We met at Kneeland Park, but it just wasn’t mysterious (or erie) enough. So after a brief consultation in the rain, we decided to head up to the Huff and Puff, excuse me, I mean the HufflePuff trails.

When we got out of the car, who did I see walking onto the trails but my future relatives, my brother’s fiancee’s ‘rents, who also happen to be a pastor in our church. Yikes….

Hopefully they don’t think I’m an evil child or anything, for making an HP movie.

We headed into the trails and started making our video. I can’t include too many spoilers at the moment, but I can say that it involved a lot of tromping through the brush, yelling “expelliarmus, protego, lumos, petrificus totalis, allohomora”, some falling over, adventuring, a golden snitch, an invisibility cloak and much much more.

We still need to film a lot more, but by the time we were done there, we were losing creativity due to the sogginess of our attire.

There was also a photo shoot, but I don’t have those photos yet. When I get them I will post some of me.

That’s about all I’ve been up to lately. Well, that and packing.

I have tried really hard to scale back on what I’m taking for a couple of reasons.

One: I don’t want to carry it all up the stairs to my room.

Two: I can’t fit it all in my car.

Also, I figure if I need something I can always get it the next time I go home. This is kind of cheating I know, but I figure that if it looks like I moved in less, then I did. :)

To summarize: I am exquisitely sick of Shel-diggety, home, not having structured activities.

If I weren’t in book club/Joseph, I would be completely bonkers by now.

I am so excited to go back to School and begin RA training. It can’t come quickly enough.

Sincerely,

Emilie
