Pasco

Well yesterday morning we all loaded up into the car to head off to my G’rents’ and we only made it down the driveway before my parents bailed due to another fight. Which caused my emo post of yesterday. I’m just sick of it.

Well an hour or so later (after I sat in the car on my laptop angsting it out…isn’t that cool that the wifi reaches out there?) the ‘rents got back in. There were only a few minor (for them) squabbles on the car ride up. We stopped for lunch in Yakima (ugly town if you ask me) and then headed on down to Pasco.

We were recieved by our Uncle and his barking dog. That continued on and off throughout the day.

My mom hogged my grandparents’ wii (how hip are they?) until after dinner by which time nobody else wanted to do wii fit.

After dinner it was a wifi fest, one after another succumbing to the siren call of their laptops.

I was really tired for some reason but I couldn’t go to bed. I am an extremely light sleeper and due to my idiocy I neglected to bring my earplugs. I was assigned the living room to sleep in, given my great-grandmother’s old feather mattress (which by this time was so old that it made the floor even more uncomfortable because it was pretty much flat just with a few painful lumps here and there) and told I could go to bed whenever. Not so easy to do when my Dad and Uncle are sitting five feet away talking computers.

They finally went to bed at 11, and it always takes me an hour or so to fall asleep–especially when I can’t concentrate due to the power snoring going on 100 feet away from my parents. Why do I always forget to bring my earplugs?

Even so, 12pm, not a terrible sleeping time. If allowed to sleep until 8 or 9.

However, my mother firmly believes that you ought to be up before the crack of dawn and apparently my grandma and uncle aren’t far off.

A quarter to six in the morning they come on out into the living room, start chatting it up, playing REALLY LOUD solitaire on the computer, get food to eat. Then out comes Uncle Pete and his trusty huskie Zues, a dog who seems to have a fetish for my toes, to join into the party.

I try rolling over, squishing my head under my pillow which did cut out some of the noise but then cut off my air supply so I made a little hole to breathe and all the noise came back. On top of that I was finding it hard to breathe because the dog had been rolling around the night before so his hairs were on the floor right next to where I was sleeping.

I tried desperately–obstinately–to keep my eyes shut and pretend to sleep but by 6:20 I gave up the charade and settled for giving everybody death glares and troglodyte grunts (sorry troglodytes I know that you probably don’t grunt, but most people think you do) for at least five minutes.

So now I’m back on the wifi, with aches in my neck, hip, back, stuffiness in my nose and soreness in my throat, buggy eyes, and the beginnings of a headache at 6:48 in the morning. Go back to bed you say? I only wish.

Sincerely,

Emilie
